 1. Human Factors Engineer/ Usability Specialist (One Year Contract)

Job Overview:

Healthcare Human Factors is seeking a motivated and dynamic individual with a strong background in human factors, design and evaluation to join our innovative and fast-growing team. A successful candidate will have strong analytical and interpersonal skills, with a passion for usability and a creative eye for excellent design.

Skill Requirements:

- University Degree or College Diploma in Systems Design/Industrial/Clinical/Biomedical Engineering, Human Factors, Psychology or equivalent industry experience; Masters Degree preferred
- Four (4) years of related experience
- In-depth understanding of and experience with user-centered design methodologies including ethnographic studies, heuristic evaluations, and usability testing
- Experience in planning, preparing and conducting both formal and informal usability assessments
- Proven project management skills and able to prioritize and balance multiple projects
- Effective team-player and proven leadership ability; demonstrated client-management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong presentation skills and technical writing ability
- Strong analytical and problem solving abilities; detail-oriented, self-driven, fast-learner

Preferred Skills:

- Understanding of the healthcare industry and/or experience in the clinical healthcare setting
- Understanding of academic research process and methodologies; published papers and conference proceedings
- Experience in developing wireframes, workflows, information architectures; familiar with Visio and prototyping tools
- Strong IT and digital AV background and skills
- Eligibility for Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario with the PEO
- Memberships in HF professional organization
- Willing to travel

2. Human Factors Analyst (One year contract)

Job Overview:

Healthcare Human Factors is seeking a motivated and dynamic individual with a background in human factors, design and evaluation to join our innovative and fast-growing team. The Human Factors Analyst will be involved in activities such as:

- Ethnographic studies on clinical users and environments to better understand workflows and tasks
- Leading small to medium-sized human factors evaluations including project planning and management, performing data analysis, developing recommendations and conclusions, reporting, presenting and publishing findings
- Supporting large-scale usability evaluations (developing tasks and scenarios, participant recruitment, survey design and analysis, lab set up and preparations)
- Researching human factors industry standards, protocols and best practices

A successful candidate will have excellent analytical and interpersonal skills, with an interest for usability and a creative eye for design.
