Ethnographic and Field Research

Ethnographic research and field study techniques are commonly used in the first stage of project cycle to establish a clear understanding user tasks, goals and workflow. Data collection methods such as shadowing, interviews and questionnaires provide a view of the “real-world” conditions in which users operate to provide context around the use of proposed technologies. Information gleaned from observations and shadowing is used to inform the development of scenarios for future stages of design and evaluation.
