Dr. Heather Ross
Director of Ted Rogers Centre of Excellence in Heart Function
Site Lead – Ted Rogers Centre for Heart Research

Heather Ross, MD, MHSc, FRCP (C), FACC is a cardiologist at the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre, Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto. She is Director of the Ted Rogers Centre of Excellence in Heart Function, site lead for the Ted Rogers Centre for Heart Research, and holds the Loretta A. Rogers Chair in Heart Function. She received her MD from the University of British Columbia, her cardiology training at Dalhousie University, and postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University, California. She earned her Master’s Degree in Bioethics from the University of Toronto. She has published over 260 articles, won numerous teaching awards and in 2015, she was named by Canadian Geographic as one of the top 100 modern day explorers.

Justin Kirkey
Manager, Product Design, Synaptive Medical

Synaptive Medical is a Toronto-based MedTech company working to reimagine modern neurosurgical technologies to enhance clinical capabilities and to improve outcomes for patients. At Synaptive Medical, Justin manages a team of user experience (UX) and industrial designers (ID) responsible for tailoring product solutions that span across neuroimaging, planning, navigation, and surgical optics, and that support the needs of neurosurgeons, radiologists, nurses, and a slew of other clinicians. Justin has worked across a variety of product design fields prior to joining Synaptive, including work for consumer websites and apps for brands like Jeep and Intel, to the user interface and service design for the safety-critical healthcare, aviation, and manufacturing industries.

Natasha Milijasevic
Director of Quality and Patient Safety, Trillium Health Partners

Natasha Milijasevic is the Director of Quality and Patient Safety at Trillium Health Partners, a 3-campus community hospital in Mississauga and West Toronto with over 1,300 beds. Natasha has been a leader in healthcare, government, software and management consulting, and has worked in a number of sectors including manufacturing and aviation. She has led numerous large, complex, transformation projects, with clinical, operational and technology streams, in both the broader public health care system and the private sector. Natasha is a Project Management Professional (PMP) and a Lean Black Belt; and, has a B.Sc. from Queens University, MBA from Rotman (U of T), and a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto.

Dr. Sonny Kohli
Co-founder and Chief Medical Officer, Cloud DX

Sonny is a Critical Care Physician in an adjunct faculty at McMaster University. His desire to improve access to care, deepened by his global volunteering, inspired him to co-found Cloud DX, a company utilizing unique sensors, and raw data analytics to tackle grand challenges in health care. Cloud DX was recently bestowed with the ‘Bold, Epic Innovator’ award in the Qualcomm Tricorder XPRIZE competition. Sonny is formerly a CSA Astronaut Candidate, trained Flight Surgeon and alumnus of the International Space University, where he deployed an experiment on the ISS. He is also new faculty at Singularity University, Canada.
