Wayne is Managing Director of Healthcare Human Factors (HHF). In this role, Wayne has overseen countless usability evaluations for devices and systems ranging from complex radiotherapy and surgical systems to infusion pumps and injectors. He is also a member of the AAMI Human Factors Committee and IEC/ISO joint working group on usability of medical devices that developed and updates the 62366 international standard.

Wayne’s 25+ years of experience have ranged from conducting longitudinal ethnographic research for Microsoft Bob in the 1990s, ensuring soldiers can effectively communicate in the face of a chemical attack, and leading the user experience design of risk and quality management solutions at IBM. But his passion is in viewing healthcare through a human factors lens and working with manufacturers, hospitals, patients, and providers to create solutions that are both seamless and safe.

Wayne holds a MEng in Industrial Engineering from the University of Toronto specializing in Human Factors and a BASc in Systems Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo.
